Module Topics

Effective behavior-analytic practice requires coordination of care across the multiple systems that influence a client’s learning and quality of life. This module introduces the Alchemy of Collaboration framework to help practitioners understand how multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary collaboration function across applied settings. Participants will examine the defining characteristics of each collaboration model and how varying levels of integration among professionals influence treatment planning, communication, and client outcomes. The module also explores common barriers to coordination of care (including disciplinary centrism, role boundary conflicts, and communication breakdowns) and introduces the Unicorn Principles of Collaboration (curiosity, shared language, respect for lived and professional experience, and humility with compassion) as practical strategies for resolving these challenges. Participants will learn to identify discriminative stimuli (SDs) that signal when coordination of care is needed, such as system overlap, complex needs, transitions in services, safety concerns, or situations outside a practitioner’s scope of competence. Emphasis is placed on using collaboration to support ethical, coordinated, and client-centered systems of care.
