Module Topics
Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) are a central component of applied behavior analysis (ABA), yet they are often treated as static documents rather than dynamic systems of care. This module reframes BIPs as living care plans that translate assessment results into coordinated, data-informed action designed to improve behavior and enhance quality-of-life outcomes. Using the Applied Care Network (ACN) framework, participants will examine how assessment and analysis, treatment planning, implementation, social validity, and continuous evaluation interact as interconnected processes guiding effective intervention. Participants will learn how BIPs function as communication tools that support ethical, individualized care across teams and settings while maintaining alignment with assent, consent, cultural humility, and risk–benefit decision-making. The module also reviews key implementation variables used to evaluate intervention effectiveness during BIP delivery, including client outcome data, treatment integrity, data quality, and decision rules for modification. Emphasis is placed on monitoring both behavioral outcomes and the client’s lived experience of intervention to ensure plans remain effective, humane, and responsive over time.
