Module Topics

This professional development training examines assent-based and compassionate care practices within applied behavior analysis. Participants will differentiate assent and consent in applied contexts and evaluate how programming decisions influence client dignity, autonomy, and emotional safety. Emphasis is placed on neurodiversity-affirming approaches, reduction of coercive or compliance-based practices, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the promotion of psychological flexibility. Through reflective analysis and applied strategies, participants will identify opportunities to shift from control-based models toward connection-centered, assent-informed practice that enhances long-term quality of life for individuals receiving services.
